Like most four year old girls, my gorgeous niece Emily absolutely loves Frozen. She lives and breathes all things ice, snow and Elsa. So when my sister asked me to help out with Emily’s party I knew exactly what we would be doing!

We threw the party in the midst of an Australian summer heatwave, but with nice cool air-conditioning and an icy colour palette we transformed the house into a scene from snowy Arendale.

Emily doesn’t eat wheat so everything we served was gluten free, the layered vanilla sponge, buttercream frosted cupcakes, even the marshmallow filled ice-cream cone trees. At most parties she attends Emily can’t enjoy most of the food, so a key part of my sister’s brief was to make sure that everything we served was perfectly safe for her little tummy. For weeks leading up to the party Emily would come up to me all excited and say something like ‘Aunty Tamsyn, I’m going to be able to eat cake at my party!!’. Too cute!

Emily invited a dozen of her Kindy friends to the party and we kept them entertained with pass the parcel (filled with frozen favors), bubbles, a snowball fight using soft woolen pom poms and frozen fairy wands. Each of the little ones went home with a party bag with a mix of frozen treats and handmade items, along with their very own Frozen wand.
