If you’re like me and your favourite cake decorating medium is buttercream it’s so important to have a full proof recipe. I’ve been using the same recipe for years now, I’ve tweaked it over time and is now absolutely perfect every time I make it.
250g unsalted butter (softened at room temperature)
250g butter (softened at room temperature)
1kg icing sugar
1/4 cup water
1 Tablespoon of vanilla extract
Cream your butter until it is light, fluffy and pale.
Add water and mix.
Add your icing sugar.
Cover your mixer with a damp teatowel then mix on medium to combine icing sugar.
Mix on med/high until no air bubbles remain.
Add vanilla and whitener/gel colour and mix until perfect colour is reached.
I normally always double this recipe and it turns out so well every time.
